    watermelon_cheese_saladSo, we both have high cholesterol. Now, mine isn't as bad as J's, but still bad. Since J's levels are much worse, changes have to be made. Drastic changes.

    During the summer, there's lots of veggies about and plenty of opportunities to cook light and clean.

    But J's really committed to this. He went and bought a bunch of vitamins and minerals. Magnesium. Garlic. Fish Oil.

    I'm pretty much anti-fish. The thought of swallowing fish oil I find horrific. J says it tastes lemony. I didn't believe him, until I tried to give Monty fish oil. He wouldn't lick it up. Fish Oil. It must be too acidic or lemony for him. I still can't bring myself to try it myself.

    Rolly Polly Fish HeadWe've also been trying to eat more fish. And I've tried some of it. And it hasn't killed me. It wasn't horribly fishy and it was okay.

    Monty's been pretty happy with the table scraps that he's been getting;

    Other attempts at eating light? Steak Tenderloin (very little fat). Aloo Gobi (spice incrusted veggies). Tomato and Cuke Salad. Grilled Salmon. Grilled Trout. Homemade Coleslaw. Oatmeal made from Steel-Cut Oatmeal in the crockpot. Flax Seeds sprinkled on toast with jam.

    It's been a challenge but the CSA veggies have helped.
