Madisonians love their markets. Not just the giant Farmer's Market on the Square which is rightly treasured, but the markets that have sprung up to feed the demand outside of the Isthmus. Going on the theory that if you hold it, people will come, markets are going on all days of the week all over the town, if you know where to find them.

I've noticed more and more people visiting these other markets, most of the time because getting downtown to the "big" market can be a bit difficult. I myself enjoy the Westside Community Market next to the Hill Farms State Office Building on Sheboygan Avenue, and it's "twin" behind Hilldale on Saturday mornings.

In fact, REAP (Research, Education and Action Policy on Food Group) has published a great resource in the Farm Fresh Atlas, which lists not only CSAs available for fresh food subscription, but also the Farmer's Markets throughout the region, allowing greater flexibility in hitting one nearby at a convenient time.

And they've put this online for mass consumption.

Me, I found a recipe here for a coleslaw deriviative using swiss chard, yogurt and garbanzo beans. So, I immediately went out to collect the ingredients for the experiment. I'll post the yummy results if they are in fact delicious.
