I enjoy beer – the flavor, the aroma, the color, the conversation, the friendship. I've enjoyed beer all of my adult life (assuming college counts). I plan to share experiences connected to beers that I enjoy. It could be the beer, the food or the overall ambiance. My tastes in beer generally lean towards the microbrews and brew pubs. New and different are interesting and enjoyable.

Mike Bie, a Green Bay native, grew up watching the Packers of the '70s and '80s. It left him deeply disturbed. Now he wanders the state, "just looking for a good fish fry." He blogs here exclusively, and maintains his own website, ClassicWisconsin.com

This Community was created for Wisconsinites to share in their travels, to post and review places of interest, and to help others when they are seized by wanderlust with no idea where to go. For a more comprehensive listing of the places I've explored go to my personal blog at WheretogoWisconsin.

I'm a cheese geek, but I didn't start out that way. Raised on Velveeta on a family farm in southwest Wisconsin, after college I worked as a journalist, a corporate project manager and as a communications specialist for state government. And then, lucky for readers everywhere, I discovered artisan cheese. Hallelujah! Today, as a freelance writer, one of the best jobs I have is blogging here about Wisconsin cheesemakers, giving cheese-starved readers everywhere the inside scoop about the state's oldest industry.

He is a lifelong Packer and Badger fan who is still struggling to come to grips with the Brewers move to the National League and the resulting conflict with his beloved Chicago Cubs. I am a Wisconsin native, a graduate (in journalism) from the UW and, until November, a full-time newspaperman for more than 30 years. For the nearly 25 years that I worked at the Milwaukee Journal (and later the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel), I traveled Wisconsin to write stories and columns, avoiding the freeways whenever possible. My wife and I live on the shore of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin for a bit more than half the year but head south -- to Madison, where the lure of Badger basketball is irresistible -- for the winter.

Read posts about food and cooking from foodie-about-town Deb Shapiro. Deb thought she'd be an artist while she was growing up, but ended up graduating college in 1977 with a BA in art history - the perfect preparation for years of working in a whole slew of restaurants in Madison. Real fast she realized that her cooking said more to people than her artwork and 30 years later she's still cooking, and now writing about it.
